For the second session of our masterclass “Decolonizing Museums and Archives: New Perspectives in Indonesia”, MUSEUM FORWARD 2025 invites Judith Bosnak, Director of SAKA Museum Bali, to share how museums are adapting and reshaping their perspective and practice on decolonising archives within today’s evolving cultural landscape. The Dactyloscopy Archives at Museum Perkebunan Indonesia represent a long-hidden resource that reveals essential stories about plantation life. Tracing not only labour history but the human identities behind each fingerprint.

This collection opens up new pathways in the decolonisation of archives and museums, both in Indonesia and beyond. It encourages the development of narratives grounded in local knowledge and community perspectives, shifting the focus away from dominant Western frameworks.
